As it settled into the water, the bow of the lifeboat also struck the side of the cruise ship.\u00a0The lifeboat was retrieved with large dents and cracks on the starboard aft corner of the lifeboat, as well as damage to the fiberglass underside of the lifeboat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lifeboat accident occurred throughout what seems to have been crew coaching or tendering operations.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Lifeboat?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#Lifeboat<\/a> failure through a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RoyalCaribbean?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@RoyalCaribbean<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/cruise?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#cruise<\/a> ship, once more. This time it was the Quantum of the Seas. isn&#8217;t the primary time {that a} lifeboat fell off of a cruise ship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Empty Lifeboat Accidents<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In December 2018, a lifeboat broke free from the\u00a0<em>Carnival Dream<\/em> within the Gulf of Mexico because the Carnival cruise ship was <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==\" fifu-lazy=\"1\" fifu-data-sizes=\"auto\" thirtieth. Initial experiences prompt that the lifeboat (picture proper) sheered from the davit hook and fell into the water. Fortunately, there was nobody within the lifeboat on the time.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in 2018,\u00a0 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruiselawnews.com\/2018\/01\/articles\/crew-member-rights\/po-arcadia-lifeboat-accident-in-azores\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lifeboat on\u00a0P&amp;O\u2019s\u00a0<em>Arcadia<\/em>\u00a0broke from its cabling<\/a>\u00a0and fell from its davits into the ocean whereas the cruise ship was in\u00a0Ponta Delgada, Azores.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruiselawnews.com\/2017\/01\/articles\/crew-news\/lifeboat-breaks-free-from-grandeur-of-the-seas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a lifeboat broke free from Royal Caribbean\u2019s\u00a0<em>Grandeur of the Seas<\/em><\/a>\u00a0within the port of Charleston attributable to a frayed cable.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruiselawnews.com\/2013\/12\/articles\/rescue\/allure-of-the-seas-leaves-lifeboat-in-nassau\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cable to a lifeboat on Royal Caribbean\u2019s\u00a0<em>Allure of the Seas\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>snapped<\/a>\u00a0whereas the cruise ship was in Nassau.<\/p>\n<p>All of those incidents occurred when there have been no passengers or crew members aboard the lifeboats. Unfortunately, most lifeboats failures happen as they&#8217;re being improperly raised or lowered with crew members aboard them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Many Deadly Lifeboat Accidents<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In September of 2016, two crew members have been killed and different crew members have been critically injured after a lifeboat fell from the\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruiselawnews.com\/2016\/09\/13\/lifeboat-accident-on-harmony-of-the-seas-kills-one-and-injures-several-others\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harmony of the Seas<\/a><\/em>, which was docked in Marseilles, France. Five members of the ship\u2019s navigation crew have been on board throughout a drill when the lifeboat grew to become indifferent and fell ten meters into the water.<\/p>\n<p>Eight crew members have been in a lifeboat throughout a drill in 2013 on the\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruiselawnews.com\/2013\/02\/10\/clia-safety-proposal-ignored-lifeboat-plunges-60-feet-5-dead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Thomson Majesty<\/a><\/em> cruise ship when the lifeboat plunged 60 toes into the water. The lifeboat landed the wrong way up. Five of the crew have been killed and three have been injured.<\/p>\n<p>In July of 2016, a rescue boat drill resulted within the boat falling into the water with 4 crew members from the\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruiselawnews.com\/2016\/07\/20\/rescue-boat-accident-on-norwegian-breakaway-injures-four\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Norwegian Breakaway<\/a><\/em>\u00a0whereas the cruise ship was in Bermuda. Two crew members have been killed and two different significantly injured.<\/p>\n<p>Between these two occasions, there have been a number of different lifeboat mishaps. In January of 2016, a cruise ship tender boat on the\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruiselawnews.com\/2016\/01\/17\/tender-boat-on-fred-olsens-balmoral-malfunctions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Balmoral<\/a><\/em>\u00a0operated by\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==\" fifu-lazy=\"1\"
