Hurtigruten and Brunvoll acquired funding from The Green Platform Initiative to develop a zero-emission vessel.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is great news for us. The support means that\u202fHurtigruten Norway\u2019s plans for zero-emission vessels on the Norwegian coastline takes a large step forward and we are on schedule for our first vessel in 2030,\u201d mentioned Hedda Felin, CEO of Hurtigruten Norway.<\/p>\n
The Green Platform Initiative gives funding for corporations centered on inexperienced development and it’s managed by Research Council, Innovation Norway and Siva, in accordance with a press release.<\/p>\n
The Norwegian Research Council has awarded the Sea Zero challenge 67 MNOK in funding to develop zero-emission ships, in accordance with a press launch.<\/p>\n
The Sea Zero challenge entails a number of Norwegian corporations working collectively to develop a whole zero-emission ship.<\/p>\n
Brunvoll will develop propulsion programs and determination assist programs for environment friendly and protected operations. For its contribution to the challenge, Brunvoll will obtain 5,25MNoK.<\/p>\n
\u201cBrunvoll has long traditions for development of new technology and welcome the focus on more zero emission. This is an important project, both to state Norway\u2019s position in ship design, equipment, and building, and for Brunvoll to contribute to a more sustainable future,\u201d mentioned Knut Andresen, EVP of Engineering and Product Development at Brunvoll.<\/p>\n
Hurtigruten plans to develop a zero-emission ship for the costal route from Bergen to Kirkenes. SINTEF shall be a analysis accomplice and challenge supervisor for the challenge.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe development of zero-emission vessels is very positive for the climate, but the project will also give great positive effect on the maritime industry in Norway. Development of new green technology will increase competence and improve our export potential for the industry in general and for the partners in the project,\u201d mentioned Trond Johnsen, advertising and marketing director at SINTEF Ocean.<\/p>\n
