The State Department is renewing its Mexico journey warning to Americans<\/a>. Just forward of spring break, the federal government is advising Americans to both skip Mexico journeys, rethink journey or at the very least use additional warning when touring to a number of components of the nation due to the potential for violence.<\/p>\n

\u201cViolent crime \u2014 such as homicide, kidnapping, carjacking and robbery \u2014 is widespread and common in Mexico,” reads the advisory from the U.S. Department of State. Currently, there is a travel advisory in place for 30 of Mexico’s 32 states.<\/p>\n

This renewed advisory comes as we learn of violence that involved Americans<\/a> in Matamoros, a town in Mexico near the Texas border.<\/p>\n
