Here we now have the opposite gun present in some trenches. This is the Remington Model 10 in its trench gun kind. Many know the Winchester Model 1897 for being the ditch gun of World War One with its uncovered hammer and cheese grater warmth defend. Surprisingly little or no is claimed concerning the Remington Model 10\u2019s position and John Pedersen\u2019s absolute genius. John Moses Browning himself proclaimed John Pedersen to be \u201cthe greatest gun designer in the world\u201d. If solely these grand minds may have teamed up. Alas, John Moses Browning\u2019s Winchester 1897 will get many of the credit score for clearing trenches and infuriating the Germans. The Remington Model 10 Trench Gun nonetheless was considerably superior in that it was enclosed and far much less inclined to mud. The picket handguard of the ditch gun model is a matter of necessity. Since all of the basic steel ported warmth shields had been patented, a picket handguard was the workaround. It may be assumed they had been fragile since most genuine Remington Model 10 Trench Gun shotguns immediately are with out them.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cThis is a fine representative example of a very scarce period assembled World War I Remington-UMC Model 10-A trench shotgun manufactured under a U.S. Army contract for 3,500 and found in the serial number range of 117731-165566, with most being reconverted back into riot or sporting shotguns over time. A Model 10-A trench shotgun is considered the apex of any U.S. Military shotgun collection. The Remington Model 10 shotgun was originally designed by the well respected Engineer John Pedersen; with the trench variation modified with a 23-inch barrel, wooden handguard, and bayonet lug for use with the M1917 bayonet. Serial number \u201cU\/151955\u201d marked on the entrance underside of the receiver. The interval substitute barrel is appropriately roll marked with the Remington circled \u201cREP\u201d manufacturing unit proof together with the non-matching serial quantity \u201c164748\u201d marked the wrong way up on the decrease proper rear aspect of the breech. The high of the barrel is appropriately marked (underneath the handguard) \u201cMODEL 10-A\u201d forward of the three-line \u201cREMINGTON ARMS-UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO.\/REMINGTON WORKS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A.\/PATENTED FEBRUARY 3, 1903, AND MAY 16, 1905.\u201d The barrel is fitted with a matte blued bayonet lug with an \u201ceagle head\/250\u201d proof on the entrance finish. \u201cFlaming bomb\/US\u201d marked on left of receiver. Fitted with an oil completed walnut handguard, ribbed pump deal with, easy pistol grip buttstock, and serrated metal buttplate. \u201c<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\"
