<\/figure>\n<\/div>\nA morning of mishaps ended with a monster lake trout within the palms of Red Lake resident Sam Boucha.<\/p>\n
The 26-year-old was fishing near house March 3 with accomplice Brad Molloy after they determined to strive a unique spot. Boucha then rigged a deadstick rod with a 3\/8-ounce jighead and five-inch sucker.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fishing started off good. We caught a number of trout in no time, then at 11 a.m., while jigging my second rod, I saw the one in the holder go down. It was dead weight when I set the hook,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
Boucha battled the laker for practically an hour earlier than realizing the enormous fish wasn\u2019t going to suit by way of the eight-inch gap. She handed the rod to Molloy and grabbed the trout simply earlier than it spit the hook.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe decided to drill a second hole,\u201d she stated. \u201cI had my arm all the way down to the shoulder holding on for dear life, scared that I was going to lose this trophy fish, while Brad drilled beside my arm, frightened he was going to cut me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Too heavy for the size<\/h3>\n
The laker measured 47.75-inches with a 31-inch girth. It was too heavy for a 50-pound scale \u2014 the burden was estimated at greater than 57 kilos. The critically injured fish couldn\u2019t be launched, however a mount is within the works.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m extremely sad the fish didn\u2019t survive but am grateful to have caught it in my hometown, on a favourite lake, and to have aided in MNRF research,\u201d Boucha stated. \u201cI was taught by one of the best, Robert Boucha \u2014 so this one\u2019s for you, dad.\u201d<\/p>\n
