It’s winter and to me that’s heat soups. Not only for backpacking both, day journeys are well worth the bringing of substances alongside – a small range, small pot and a meal to prep. You’ll get hydrated and warmed up for the return journey again to the automobile.

The soup is vegetarian, although it comprises dairy. It is gluten-free as nicely. It’s a thick chowder, add extra water for those who discover it too thick (I desire my chowders thick!)

Ingredients
½ cup prompt mashed potato flakes (used decrease sodium)
½ cup freeze-dried candy corn
¼ cup prompt dried milk
2 Tbsp freeze-dried purple bell pepper
1½ tsp dried onion
1 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp granulated dried or freeze-dried garlic
1 tsp (or ½ dice) decrease sodium vegetable bouillon
½ tsp Old Bay Seasoning
Directions
• Bring 2 cups water to a boil in a small pot, ideally non-stick or HAA for straightforward cleanup.
• Stir within the soup combine, cowl tightly and let sit for 10 minutes.
• In cooler temperatures, or at altitude, put right into a pot cozy.
• Stir nicely, high with cheese, stir in.
