Feds fund migratory birds – Ontario OUT of DOORS

Woodcock are among the many migratory birds that can profit from almost $2 million in federal funding over the subsequent three years.

The funding introduced final December by Environment and Climate Change Minister Steven Guilbeault will assist a variety of packages for migratory hen monitoring and conservation nationwide. It is hoped these tasks will help the restoration of species in danger and in defending their habitats.

The funds might be supplied to Birds Canada to prepare teams and supply tools for breeding-bird atlas surveys, marsh monitoring packages, singing floor surveys, and extra. The funds may even be used to supply migration research and coordinate the eBird platform, the Christmas Bird Count, and the Breeding Bird Survey in Canada.

“Volunteer bird monitoring and conservation plays an essential role in halting and reversing biodiversity loss. These funds will be use to acquire important data to inform decision making. We very much look forward to working with Environment and Climate Change Canada to help Canada’s wild birds…,” Birds Canada President and CEO Patrick Nadeau mentioned.
