Brutal Injuries Couldn’t Stop This Halfpipe Skier


Three-time Olympian Aaron Blunck displays on his accidents, his comeback, and the therapeutic energy of backcountry snowboarding.

When Olympic halfpipe skier Aaron Blunck wants a reset, he heads to the backcountry. And by no means did he want a reset greater than when recovering from the crash he took in October 2020.

The skier sustained a lacerated kidney, six damaged ribs, a damaged pelvis, and a concussion after slamming into the sting of the halfpipe in Saas-Fee, Austria.

Blunck bounced again quick, putting second within the X Games mere months later. But it’s his free time within the mountains, snowboarding for enjoyable and mentoring up-and-comers, that actually recharges the athlete.
