Welcome to at this time’s Photo of the Day! Here we have now a really cool early 22-target pistol. This is the Smith and Wesson Straight Line Single Shot Pistol which made its debut in 1925. Up till the early Twenties Smith and Wesson dominated the goal pistol market with revolvers that had been probably not revolvers. They had a single-piece cylinder that didn’t rotate and solely took one cartridge at a time. These had been so beloved that Olympic goal shooters closely most popular them. Later on, Colt would come out with their Camp Perry goal revolver/pistol with an identical idea of design and this successfully sophisticated the market that Smith and Wesson labored so onerous on. They tried to revamp the goal pistol sport with this Stright Line Single Shot Pistol. Unfortunately, though it was marketed to be higher in each manner the widespread consensus was that they had been fairly unremarkable in comparison with their earlier counterparts.
“This unique pistol is one of only 1,870 made from 1925 to 1936. It resembles a semi-automatic pistol. The barrel pivots to the left for loading. This pistol features a fixed blade front sight and adjustable rear sight on ribbed barrel. Barrel marked “SMITH & WESSON” on the left facet and “22 LONG RIFLE CTG” on a the appropriate. Right facet of the body is marked “MADE IN U.S.A.” Smooth walnut grips with gold S&W medallion inserts. Complete with unique metallic blued case which has the “S&W” monogram embossed on lid. Green felt lined with a two piece cleansing rod, screwdriver and 6 small targets, some used.”
