Welcome to at present’s Photo of the Day! Here now we have a bit of Colt double motion linage. This is a Colt Model 1878 Frontier “Six Shooter”. These full-size and full cartridge double motion revolvers had been the follow-up to the Colt 1877 “Lightning” and “Thunderer” which had been moderately small framed and had been chambered for 38 Colt and 41 Colt. The Colt 1878 was not meant to switch 1877 by any means. It was only a necessity to submit a bigger double-action revolver to the market however extra importantly (on Colt’s thoughts) to the army.
