The Mississippi River’s latest riverboat handed sea trials this week, and is now headed to New Orleans for her inaugural season on the well-known waterway.

American Cruise Lines has accepted supply of American Serenade from Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Maryland on schedule, making it the road’s sixth riverboat in its new sequence of vessels and the 18th small ship constructed by that shipyard for American Cruise Lines.

The 180-guest boat will instantly be part of the corporate’s increasing Mississippi River fleet and start crusing this month, with the primary voyage scheduled for April twentieth. The christening ceremony will happen throughout that inaugural cruise on April twenty third in Vidalia, Louisiana.

American Serenade shows our continued commitment to small ships for America’s rivers. She has the same spacious features as her five sisterships and a design package that wows everyone who boards,” stated Charles B. Robertson, President & CEO of American Cruise Lines.

American Serenade has 5 decks, and all visitor cabins have balconies — together with suites and solo staterooms. The vessel showcases the cruise line’s patented opening bow and retractable gangway, in addition to an open-air fifth deck skywalk with an ellipse that cantilevers over the café beneath.

This 12 months, American Cruise Lines is planning to introduce two extra small ships within the U.S. market, a part of its “Coastal Cat” sequence — the 100-guest American Eagle — which can sail on the east coast — and American Glory, which can sail on the east and Florida gulf coasts.
