Firearms Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) playing cards will sport a brand new look with enhanced safety features beginning this month, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said on its web site.
The Canadian Firearms Program transition to the brand new PAL will see three legitimate variations circulated over the subsequent 5 years, together with:
- customary playing cards issued from December 1998 to May 2022
- interim playing cards issued between May and December 2022 that don’t comprise a magnetic strip on the again of the cardboard
- new playing cards issued beginning in January 2023
Previously issued PAL playing cards will stay legitimate till they expire, with the ultimate batch set to lapse in December 2027, officers said.
New PALs will probably be issued on renewal — these with a legitimate PAL don’t have to do something, officers reminded.
