Welcome to immediately’s Photo of the Day! Here we have now a very neat and short-lived milestone by Remington. This is the Remington Zig Zag Derringer produced from 1861 to 1862. It has the distinguished distinction of being Remington’s first handgun to make use of metallic cartridges. Even although roughly 1000 have been made they have been produced in a six-shot mannequin (like this 22-caliber one) and bigger caliber four-barreled ones. They use a double-action mechanism with a hoop set off to actuate it. The set off is slid ahead which actuates a fly that rides within the cylinder grooves and rotates the barrels to alignment. When the barrel is slid backward the inner hammer drops on the cartridge and fires. To load, they break open on a hinge. The swap to open is positioned slightly below the hinge.
